This week we continue with our topic of Winter weather, with a focus on snow and ice.
Look at the word mat of Winter words and discuss them with your child. Which words do they already know the meaning of? Are any of them new? Talk about any personal experience they have of these things, e.g. can you recall a time when it was foggy and what that looked/ felt like? If there are words your child hasn't heard of look up pictures in books or on the internet to talk about.
Word and picture matching
If your child is at the stage where they are beginning to read words then please now look at the set of pictures and the set of words and see if they can use their phonics knowledge to match the words to the correct pictures. They probably won't be able to sound out all of the words but can look at the first few sounds as clues to help them have a go.
