Comparing Length

Learning Intentions

  • To use mathematical language to compare length
  • To compare and order objects by length

We are going to use footwear today to compare length. Can you watch the video first and then find some shoes or boots to compare in your house. Who has the longest/shortest shoes? Are any the same length?

  • Now can you draw around your foot or make a footprint with paint or mud on paper.
  • Cut out your footprint and take it around the house as a measure.
  • Can you find 5 things longer and five things shorter than your footprint?

Parent Tip:

Encourage your child to use the language "longer than" and "shorter than"
