Thursday

Last lesson, you drew bar models and then wrote the repeated additions that matched to work out the total.

This time you are going to investigate the multiplications that match with the bar model. For example, if you have 1 group of 2 then this would be written as 1x2=2. This can also be written as 2x1=2. If you have 3 groups of 2 then this can be written as 2x3=6 or 3x2=6. Have a go at the sheet below. You should fill in the numbers in each of the boxes and write the two multiplications that match it. Remember there needs to be an equal amount in each of the short boxes when we use bar models to help us multiply.

Don't worry if you can't print the sheet. You can draw the bar models in your maths book instead.
