Flooding update
Do you remember how the flooding in the meadows started off as huge puddles that looked like lakes and ponds? Then the temperature dropped and snow began to fall and settle on top of the water.
By Wednesday morning much of the water had frozen and it was even possible to walk on some of the shallower puddles! Sometimes the ice cracked and crunched beneath our feet and sometimes it stayed firm and didn't break.
On the muddiest parts of the grass the ice made the mud feel firmer and it also crunched under foot.
What do you think will happen to the fields next?
Watch the video and listen out for the sounds the ice makes. Can you make these sounds using your voice or think of some words to describe them?
