English Summer

In the Summer Term, we will continue to build on our writing journey by further refining our handwriting, focusing on neat presentation, consistent letter formation and increased fluency. As our confidence grows, we will deepen our understanding of key grammatical features, including expanded noun phrases, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, and a range of sentence types to make our writing more varied and engaging. We will also place a stronger emphasis on editing and improving our work, learning how to check for punctuation, spelling and clarity. Importantly, we will be encouraged to take greater risks in our writing—experimenting with ambitious vocabulary, trying new sentence structures and developing our own creative ideas—so that we continue to grow as independent and reflective writers.
