This half-term in History, our Year 1 children will be learning about the life of Louis Braille, a significant individual from the past who changed the lives of many people.

During this topic, the children will:

  • Learn who Louis Braille was and why he was important.

  • Understand how his invention has helped others.

  • Compare and identify similarities and differences between ways of life in different periods.

  • Ask and answer questions to find out more about the past—Why?, What?, Who?, How?, Where?, When?

  • Select parts of stories and other sources to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key features and events.

  • Sequence events or objects in chronological order.
