Art

During the Summer Term, Year 3 pupils at E P Collier explore the theme Our Beautiful World through engaging and creative art experiences. Children investigate how dance and movement are represented in art, examining examples from different time periods and artistic disciplines. Through drawing, painting and mixed‑media work, pupils develop technical skills while learning to experiment, invent and create their own artwork. They are introduced to a range of artists and cultural traditions, developing an understanding of how art reflects society, history and identity. Pupils are encouraged to talk thoughtfully about their work and the work of others, using appropriate artistic vocabulary.  Children develop resilience by refining and improving their ideas, and independence through making creative choices. Art lessons also support wellbeing and self‑expression, allowing every child to feel confident and valued. This enriching curriculum reflects E P Collier’s commitment to inclusion, excellence and a lifelong love of learning.
