Curriculum

In Key Stage 1, our curriculum is skills-based, ensuring children develop firm foundations for future learning. We place a strong emphasis on phonics, helping every child to become a confident and fluent reader, and on number skills, giving them the tools to problem-solve and reason mathematically. Alongside this, we prioritise handwriting, supporting children to write clearly, fluently, and with pride in their presentation.

While we focus on these essential skills, we also place great value on the whole child. Our curriculum nurtures curiosity, creativity, and independence, and promotes personal, social, and emotional development. Children are encouraged to express themselves, explore their interests, and develop a love of learning across all subjects.

By combining strong foundations in core skills with opportunities to flourish as individuals, our KS1 curriculum ensures every child is supported, challenged, and celebrated.
