At EP Collier all members of staff are happy to respond to basic cuts and grazes or bumps that occur, if your child requires first aid for any other reason we have 12 members of staff who hold a current paediatric first aid certificate.
Should your child bump their head during the school day, we will apply a cold compress and monitor them, initially for a period of 10 minutes. The child will then resume normal activities and be monitored within their class for a further 20 minutes. A member of staff will telephone home if we feel that you need to come and inspect the injury with a view to seeking further medical treatment.
A letter will be sent home with your child at the end of the school day for all bumped heads, a copy of which should be signed and returned to the school office.
If there is a medical emergency initial first aid will be applied and the emergency services called.
