Wheels and axles 

In our DT lessons, we will be designing and creating our own alien car. Our learning focus will be Axles and Wheels. 

Key Skills:

 In bold are the key skills we will be exploring  when designing and creating our own alien cars. 

• Design purposeful, functional, appealing products for ourselves or others based upon design criteria 

• Generate, develop, model and communicate ideas through talking, drawing, templates, mock-ups and ICT 

• Be able to select from and use a wide range of materials and components, including construction materials, textiles and ingredients, according to their characteristics

• Know how to use and be able to select from a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks 

• Be able to explore and evaluate a range of existing products 

• Evaluate our ideas and products against design criteria 

• Be able to use the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet to prepare dishes
