In the Summer Term, our Year 2 children will continue to build their mathematical understanding through the White Rose Maths scheme, focusing on applying their skills with increasing confidence and independence. We will explore time, learning to tell the time to five minutes and understand minutes past and to the hour, as well as revisiting fractions to strengthen our understanding. Children will also study statistics, interpreting and constructing simple pictograms, tally charts and block diagrams, and position and direction, using mathematical language to describe movement and turns. Throughout the term, we will continue to develop fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills, encouraging children to explain their thinking and apply their knowledge to a range of practical and real-life contexts.
