                                                                                       Monet and Impressionism

In this unit, we will explore the work of Claude Monet and use his Impressionist style as inspiration for our own artwork. We will study how Monet used light, colour and short brushstrokes to capture the beauty of natural scenes, particularly landscapes and water. Using watercolours, we will then create our own paintings inspired by an aspect of our local area, carefully observing details such as buildings, green spaces or waterways. The children will experiment with colour mixing, layering and brush techniques to reflect mood and atmosphere, developing both their artistic skills and their appreciation of how artists represent the world around them.
