This term in Year 1, children will be learning about the history of their local area.

The children will explore the "3Bs" – biscuits, bulbs and bricks – which were the three key industries that helped Reading grow into a busy and successful town. 

Children will learn why these companies chose to move to Reading, including its excellent transport links and available space for factories. They will also explore how these industries impacted the local community, providing jobs, supporting growth of housing and shaping the town we know today.
