Baking Cookies with Cater Link
As part of our food topic in DT, Kestrels were fortunate to be visited by a chef who talked to us about the importance of a healthy diet. We enjoyed learning about about the history of biscuits and finding out about how to make traditional recipes healthier by reducing the amount of sugar. We learnt how to combine the ingredients to make shortbread biscuits, rolled the dough and cut out the cookies. The best part was eating the biscuits!
Kestrels' Visit to Wagamama
We had a wonderful time visiting Wagamama. We selected and weighed our ingredients before watching to see how the chef turned them into a delicious meal. We also experimented with developing our own freshly squeezed fruit juices. Our morning ended with us using chopsticks to taste our food and practise some Japanese phrases.
Making Games - Levers and Pulleys
We had great fun putting our scientific knowledge of forces, levers and pulleys to practical use when designing and making games which we then played and evaluated with the Ravens.
