It's amazing to think that we are approaching Easter and our little Ravens are becoming big, beautiful things ready to fly higher and further than ever before! I am so pleased and proud of the class - they work really hard, are superbly behaved (apart from tidying up time! For some reason, telling children to tidy up lets loose the inner caveboy and cavegirl in some of their hearts!) and they are great fun to be with.
The quality and quantity of their work is reaching superbly high levels which is so impressive.
They can tell you 5 ways that mountains are formed; why colons are used; they know the difference between a bar chart and a line graph; can fire a shuttlecock across the hall; and can do handstands and cartwheels - sometimes even when they are not supposed to be lining up!
However, next term will be all about getting ready for Year 6 when they will become our school's best writers, mathematicians, artists, scientists, athletes and so on - I am sure they will do extraordinary things and am really excited about their futures.
See you there!
Year 5 have been on some interesting trips this year such as an excursion to Vue cinema to watch the new release of Kensuke's Kingdom - the connection being that we studied 'War Horse' by the same author - Michael Morpurgo.
We also conducted some science experiments at The River Academy school using their fancy new Science Laboratories; visited BayLab to see some working science in practice; went to Wagamama for a lovely meal - I mean, as an important part of the Design Technology subject of Food Technology - Making A Healthy Meal. On each of these occasions their behaviour has been brilliant and their learning valuable.
Another special activity (although some of us like to think that every single lesson is a special activity!) was being taught how to cook bake healthy biscuits from a visiting chef.
