TIMES TABLES TEST

You may have seen in the news that from 2020, all Year 4 children will be sitting a multiplication 'test'. Please read the attached letter, which was sent to all parents in January, to find out more.

Our Amazing Maths Work

At E. P. Collier we like to make our maths learning fun, interactive and relevant.  We enjoy learning maths through fluency, reasoning and problem solving.  Every class has a maths learning journey displayed to help them with the unit of work. These have clear learning outcomes, key vocabulary, models and images and examples of work. Please have a look at the examples below!

Calculation Policy

 At EP Collier we believe in something called the 'CPA' approach when we teach addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This means that children are able to work with concrete materials to help them grasp mathematical concepts. They then progress to working with pictorial representations before they are ready to understand maths in the abstract. The calculation policy below will show you how we teach the four operations in school- we hope you will find it useful!
